Cressbrook Dam
Cressbrook is about half an hour away from Toowoomba.
The dam water quality is wonderful, very clear with none of the weed that is found at Cooby and seems more protected from wind.
A paddle around the dam's circumference is approximately 14km per lap.
There is a concrete boat ramp for easy access.
Fishing is permitted at Cressbrook but you will need a restocking permit. Apply here
Campsites are available. Check availabilty and cost on the
Toowoomba Regional Website
Register on arrival and place camping fees in envelopes provided on the campsite notice board.
Camp grounds have a toilet and shower block with camp kitchens and tables.
In 2022 camp grounds had no phone reception or WIFI . Best bet was to leave the camp grounds and go to high ground near the dam entrance gate.
There are a number of well maintained free gas barbeques and plenty of under cover eating areas.
Please note that although there are sites for wood fires,
campers and visitors must bring their own wood and are
not permitted to gather firewood on site.
The nearest cafe is about 10 minutes away in Crows Nest.
